I have a personal – and professional – interest in educating others about and encouraging the ways of the business world to become organizations that value their employees, their communities, and the environment on equal footing – sometimes called the “Triple Bottom Line”, and known also as “3P” – ‘People, Planet,Profit. This means all these priorities are to be in balance, and for these companies to not simply focus ONLY on the ‘traditional bottom line’ of making a profit.
It’s “Work as a Way to Do Good”
B is for….B Corps are a new type of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
B Corp’s list of Best Companies for creating an impact on the world –
I think most of us would prefer (even strongly prefer!) to work for a company that aligns with our own values and gives back to the world/does good in some way. B Corps are a new type of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
C is for…
Corporate Social Responsibility and Companies that Solve Social Problems
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the idea that a business has a responsibility to the society that exists around it
Two of my (awesome!) clients are in these fields and working for these types of organizations and departments of CSR – they are growing. Next month’s newsletter will most likely talk about these, B Corps and other ways business can be used to promote positive changes and the common good – wouldn’t we all prefer to work for an organization with those values also in their bottom line??
Wouldn’t you love to work for a company that CARES?
The type of business you work for MATTERS. Work environments matter.
I’ll talk about that more another time (more a thing I post about on Facebook, actually), (and it’s also a part of the Career Clarity Guide)
For me, that means sometimes, literally IN the environment – I love me a good outdoor work space!
I threw these in for fun, from trips: friend’s CO mountain home with my “assistant” – can you spot the visitor that didn’t have an appointment? I spent the month of September on a working holiday, enjoying fall in CO and family in AZ – awesome experiences, and, views from my various “offices” on the road!
