The Interview Isn’t JUST Inside the Room

If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

– J.K. Rowling

Did you know that hiring managers will often ask the person that greeted you, set up your interview, etc., “So what do you think?”  Managers ask for their impressions of you & how you treated them — your contact & conduct with anyone at the company matters, not just with the hiring people.  I’ve heard multiple stories of what those employees said about a candidate making a big difference, especially when in tight competition with another applicant of similar background & experience.

Now I’m sure neither Harry Potter, J.K. or you see anyone in those admin or other non-hiring positions as inferior, but you get the idea — you are being evaluated for personality fit and character as well as job skills from the get go.

Character & kindness can count just as much.  Whew!  What a simple & easy interview tip to follow!  It just means being your natural self already gives you an edge on your competition then, right?

Whattya think of that? 🙂
